Nolan had a wonderful report at the doctor today! He has a few floaters in his right eye, and his left eye looked VERY good (no floaters)! He is seeing 20/40.......so the day after report loooks very good! He still has to lay low for the next week until he sees Dr. Chiu next Friday. He is laying around at Grandma and Papa's, but a little restless not being able to swim or play. He helped Papa Harland dip some fish for the fish fry! ...and I am sure now can't wait to eat it!
Sara just shared this story with me, and I want to pass it along.......gives me goosebumps and puts tears in my eyes!
Nolan told Sara "thank you for supporting me mom...what would you like as a thank you gift?" Sara explained to Nolan that she didn't need a gift, that it was her job as a parent to care for him. Nolan offered "how about a $1000 diamond ring?"...Sara said how thoughtful, but that was NOT AT ALL neccessary.......so, then Nolan said "well, then how about a $5000 diamond ring?"
He is really appreciating his mom right now!
So our SUPER HERO still has his humor and his heart in the midst of all this!

About Me

- I am a very active 11 year old who loves to play basketball, baseball, play with friends, and spending time with my family. However, I have Uveitis (Pars Planitis). Uveitis is inflammation of the Uvea which is the vascular layer of the eye sandwiched between the retina and the white of the eye (sclera). Some of the signs, symptoms and characteristics of Uveitis that I have experienced include eye redness, eye pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, dark floating spots, floaters, and inflammation. If this is left untreated Uveitis can cause the following complications for Nolan: abnormally high pressure inside the eye (glaucoma), damage to the optic nerve, clouding of the lense (cataract), or cornea, scar tissue inside the eye, retinal problems, such as fluid within the retina, or retinal detachment, and possibly vision loss. Some of the treatments and procedures that I have already experienced include: anti-inflammatory medication/corticosteroid injections, surgery-vitrectomy/surgery to remove the jelly like material in ones eye (vitreous), laser and cryo surgery. I am now at a point of needing very speicalized care.
